Flexible Family Funding

Flexible Family Funding offers support to eligible families, with children or adult family members with developmental disabilities, to enhance their ability to live together. These funds are to be used at the discretion of the family for services and supports that benefit the individual and family.


Services Include

These funds can be used for any legal good or activity that the family choices; such as:

  • Family Respite
  • Assistive Technology
  • Home Modifications
  • Individual and Household Needs (clothing, heating, rent, etc.)
  • Recreational Activities


Eligibility

To be eligible for Flexible Family Funding, a recipient must be either:

  • A person with a developmental disability who lives with his/her family (i.e., unpaid biological, adaptive and/or step-parents, adult siblings grandparents, aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews and legal guardians).
    OR
  • A family member who lives with and supports a person with a developmental disability.

Exclusions:

  • Individuals receiving home and community-based waiver supports are not eligible.
  • Applicants who income exceeds the upper limit of the sliding scale are not eligible.
  • Individuals living independently, or with their spouse, are not eligible.


Provider of Services

Contact your local developmental disability Designated Agency if you are interested in or want to apply for Flexible Family Funding. There is one Designated Agency listed for each county.

  • Developmental Disabilities Services Providers
    There are 15 private non-profit developmental disability services providers in Vermont, contracted by DAIL, who offer a variety of services to people with developmental disabilities. Supports include service coordination/case management, home supports, employment services, community supports, family and respite supports, clinical interventions and crisis services.
